To quote Vaclev Havel, "Hope, is not the conviction that something will turn out well, but the certainty that something makes sense regardless of how it turns out."
We need to have the certainty that something makes sense NO MATTER HOW IT TURNS OUT.
Inspired by Margaret Wheatley keynote speaker at the recent Australasian International Coaches Federation Conference. . . . More to follow!

And to turn it around - some things don't make sense no matter how they turn out. I can think of a lot of candidates for this - perhaps because at present I am feeling rather despondent about the future of our world. It makes sense to do whatever one can to reduce the inevitable impact of climate change, it doesn't make sense to ignore it. No matter which of gthe scientific forecasts are correct. Lots of similar examples but you get the drift.
As Gramsci said - and Havel is on the same track - we should live by the maxim: Pessimism of the intellect bit optimism of the will.
